Design thinking – China and Poland bridge – workshop

What is the Design Thinking concept?

Design thinking is the application of designers’ tools to other areas of our reality. It can be applied to business, organizations, medicine, law and many other including studying. It is a way of thinking about surrounding phenomena and approaching problems.

What will I learn?

The workshop aims at application of designers’ tools to real life problems. The methods that are used to construct a house or a bridge will be discussed and practiced on real live problems. The model that will be at the heart of the workshop consists of 4 elements:

  • purpose,
  • material,
  • collateral technologies,
  • style

Participants will be invited to observe the similarities and differences of designs in China and in Poland.

What are we going to do?

We will:

  • do not learn definitions,
  • do not listen to the lecture,
  • work in teams,
  • experience,
  • use conceptual tools.

Who is accepted for the workshop?

Students from every possible field of studies.

The module consist of:

  1. Why? What? How?
  2. Design in practice.
  3. Nonlinearity of design.
  4. Eastern cultures and western cultures assumptions in design.
  5. Complexity and simplicity of design.
  6. Consequences of design choices.
  7. Design thinking application methods.
