The Centre for Asian Affairs (CAA) conducts extensive monitoring of political, economic, and social events in East Asian countries. As part of the actions taken, we publish five-monthly periodicals: China Monitor, Japan Monitor, Korea MonitorASEAN Monitor, India Monitor and China's Local Governments with special comments from our experts. The archival section also includes the Vietnam Monitor (2017-2019) and the China-Balkans Monitor (2017-2022) and China in the UN Monitor (2023-2024). These monthlies contain a compendium of current events, with particular emphasis on the activity of these countries in the region of Central and Eastern Europe. In the case of China, emphasis is also placed on the activity of Chinese local authorities in this region of Europe, Southeast Asia, India, as well as Poland. In addition, experts comment on the most important events in the East Asia region on the CAA Blog and CAA Focus.

CHINA MONITOR

"China Monitor"  discusses and comments on the most important events related to China's current political, economic, and social situation. It focuses on China's activities in Central Europe and the foreign activities of Chinese local authorities in the Sichuan and Guangdong provinces. The monitor is written by Dr. Bartosz Kowalski - analyst at the Center for Asian Affairs.

JAPAN MONITOR

"Japan Monitor" discusses and comments on the most important events related to Japan's current political, economic, and social situation, with particular emphasis on the country's activities in Central Europe and the European Union. The Monitor is prepared by Dr. Marcin Socha - analyst at the Center for Asian Affairs.

KOREA MONITOR

"Korea Monitor"  discusses and comments on the most important events related to the current political, economic and social situation in South Korea, with particular emphasis on South Korean activities in Central Europe and inter-Korean relations. The Monitor is prepared by Dr. Joanna Beczkowska - analyst at the Center for Asian Affairs.

ASEAN MONITOR

"ASEAN Monitor" discusses and comments on the most important events related to the current political, economic, and social situation in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations countries, with particular emphasis on China's actions in the region. The Monitor is compiled by Dr. Mateusz Chatys, an analyst at the Center for Asian Affairs.

INDIA MONITOR

"India Monitor" discusses and comments on the most important events related to the current political, economic and social situation in India, with particular emphasis on interactions with China. The Monitor is written by by Dr. Krzysztof Iwanek - analyst at the Centre for Asian Affairs.

CHINA'S LOCAL GOVERNMENTS

"Monitor China's Local Governments" discusses and comments on the most important events concerning the international activity of Chinese provinces, autonomous regions and autonomous cities, with particular emphasis on technological and logistics centers and coastal provinces. The monitor is prepared by Michał Gzik - analyst at the Centre for Asian Affairs.

VIETNAM MONITOR

"Vietnam Monitor" discusses and comments on the most important events related to Vietnam's current political, economic, and social situation, with particular emphasis on relations within the Indochinese Peninsula and Central and Eastern Europe. The Monitor is prepared by Dr. Michał Zaręba - analyst at the Center for Asian Affairs.

CHINA-BALKANS MONITOR

"China-Balkans Monitor" discusses and comments on the most important events related to the current bilateral relations of the countries of the Balkan Peninsula with China with particular emphasis on the cooperation within the 16+1 format and the Belt and Road initiative. The Monitor is prepared by Dr. Przemysław Ciborek, an analyst at the Centre for Asian Affairs.
